Layering with Stencils on Tags

Hi Everyone from a very yukky Upper Hutt.  The weather has been miserable all this week.  Lots of rain and today was pretty cold too.  On the plus side this makes for good crafting sessions.  I'm still working on stencils for the class at the end of the month.  I want to show the Ladies as many different stenciling techniques as I can.  So with that goal in mind I have been trying my hand at layered stenciling a la Sir Tim style, which has to mean tags of course.  The first picture shows three miserable failures.  I just couldn't get the right look. Then bingo!!  Go for the faded/distressed look. And so I began to stamp with second generation ink which made ALL the difference.  The other two pics show the tags I LIKE.  I have to say that I do LOVE the layered technique/look very much.  Thanks for stopping by tonight.

Through a Hole in the Page

I created this today as part of my upcoming stencils class and then I received an FB message re a Challenge from Scrappin' Patch for layouts or cards created this weekend so I thought I would enter it in that.  I made my own stencil/mask for this by simply cutting a hole in a piece of copy paper and creating a country scene through it.  It is a technique I like and it is simple to create.  Hope you like it.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend especially if you are looking in from the UK where it is May bank holiday on Monday so a lovely long weekend.  Stay safe.

Four Little Maids

Tayla's handiwork from yesterday and tonight.  I thought she would be turning out these by the score but she was slow to get started on them so I stamped four out onto flesh coloured card and just left them on the table.  That was all it needed.  She got the scissors and away she went.  I showed her how to dress them using the paper piecing method and I have to say for a 10 year old she does a fantastic job on the 'Fussy Cutting'.  I haven't ever explained to her about moving the paper and NOT the scissors but that is exactly what she does.  It must be in the genes.  Most of the adults in my classes cannot get the hang of that!!  We have had a fantastic day today.  We left home at about 10 this morning and didn't get back until 5.30 this evening.  We went to Masterton and played mini golf, had a picnic, payed at the park and then had about 2 and a half hours in the swimming pool.  This evening Tayla baked banana choc chip muffins with a very tired G'ma supervising from the stool at the breakfast bar!!! I promised her I would post the dollies before I went to bed so now I have done that I can fall into my bed with a clear conscience.  Last day with them tomorrow.  Another early start for the movies at 10.15 and then I think it is a cake pop session tomorrow afternoon before they go home once Mum finishes work for the day. Night night. PS The dolly by itself is her favourite one.  Thought the faces she drew on them were very cute too.

School Holiday Fun

Midway through the week already!!! Trent and Tayla are only with us for one week of the school hols this time so we have to make the most of every minute so this is a very quick post.  This morning we had appointments!!!  Tayla at the nail salon and Trent at the hair salon.  They both look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool with the results and they are both VERY happy with the results too.  My oh my they are just getting SO grown up.  We had a height measuring session last nigh and G'ma is fast being taken over.  Only about 10cms difference now between us.  They are about the same height as each other now even though Tayla is almost 2 years younger.  Right off to the photo shop to collect still more photos from the Christmas Disney trip to scrapbook this afternoon.  I sure do love my Grandkids!!! See ya later.

Two More Stencil cards

Two more stencil cards done over the weekend.  These two were coloured first, then translucent stencil paste and lastly micro glass beads sprinkled on whilst the paste is still wet. The beads catch the light quite beautifully.  In fact I had to photograph them out of the sun and without flash because the reflection from the beads was too much.

Experimenting with Stencils

Stencils seem to be The Thing at the moment don't you think.  I have had both plastic and metal for a while but have only recently done any amount of experimenting with them.  It's fun and I've been enjoying it.  Lots of VERY different ways of using your stencils and some are messier than others!!!  Make sure you wear old clothes or a coverall when using the stencil paste or acrylic paint.  Well worth a bit of mess I can assure you.  We are going to have a full day stenciling workshop at the end of  May.  More experimenting to do before then.  Hope you are enjoying the Easter break.  I'm just off out into the garden to do some more tidying up ready for the garden going to bed for the winter.  Yuk!!!  Thanks for visiting today.

Butterfly Corner

I am totally floored by this card!!! Thank-you Christina Griffiths for showing us how to achieve such a beautiful card.  It was SO lovely to do and I for one would be over the moon should one turn up in the mail at my house.  The only drawback???  Glitter from one end of the house to the other!!! Still no such thing as a free lunch they say.  Small price to pay really for such a gorgeous card.  Hope you like it too.  Right Hey ho, hey ho it's off to camp I go.  LOL Have a good day one and all.
