I've been playing

Hello Everyone and Happy Friday to you all. I hope you all have something nice to look forward to this weekend. We are going to the wedding of some young friends of ours. I gave them the card I had made today WITHOUT PHOTOGRAPHING IT FIRST!!! How dumb was that? So now you'll never see it will you? Sorry about that. Anyway these three are what I have been playing with for the last couple of days. I purchased a lovely instructional DVD from the States and have been studying it and trying to replicate the lessons on there. The first couple are my first attempts which didn't turn out quite how I would have liked (hence I didn't mount them to complete the cards) but it is all good practise. The third one is a slightly different technique and it turned out to be quite a reasonable effort (I think anyway) I will keep trying and post more as I do them. I think they would make quite a nice class in the New Year (when I've mastered the intracasies a bit more). All the stamps are from Stampscapes and I just love them. They all go together so well and you don't have to make lots of masks either!!! Right I'm off to give my inky fingers a good wash and then paint my nails ready for tomorrow. Thanks for looking today.
P.S I have been to the pool 3 times this week and done lots of walking up and down which is helping my recovery.

Advent - Christmas is a Comin'

Hi Again Everyone and if you live in NZ I hope those of you who work are enjoying your Labour Day holiday. Pity the sun isn't shining (well here in Upper Hutt anyway) but I guess all is well with world here in NZ whatever the weather since the All Blacks were crowned Rugby Worl Cup Champions last night. I/We are definitely NOT rugby fans and we are certainly looking forward to life getting back to normal post World Cup fever but I guess we will have to endure the celebrations for at least another week yet. Still it is nice for people to have something to get excited about and celebrate. Me? I rather have some new stamps or some yummy scrapbook papers!!! Speaking of which today's post is what I have been working of for the last three or four days. Such a delight to make and a big thank-you to Kate and Julie for putting together such a lovely (Kaisercraft) kit. It really was la delight to work on from beginning to end. It is for my Two Favourite Little People of course. I still have to add the numbers onto the little boxes but we are waiting for them to come into stock and I couldn't wait to show off my creation. We have also bought a Lego Advent Calendar for Trent and Tayla where I think they make a little lego item each day to add to the calendar scene so they can take it in turns with this one and the Lego one. Of course I now have to find 24 goodies to go into the drawers - not just this year but for many years to come too. I love my creation and I hope you do too. Thanks for stopping by today and for all those of you who have been visiting over tha last week or so. Visitors numbers have certainly been up. Thanks.

Visions of Sugar Plums Danced in Their Heads

Right here we go!!! Three Twas the Night Before stamps used with Angelina Fibres sandwiched in between two layers of Fantasy Film and then cut out and stuck onto the basic card which has also been stamped with the image. Don't you just love the effect? I do. Again time and patience but sooooo worth it (I think) I hate these programs where they say 'Quick and Easy'. I really don't do quick and easy. I like to think of my cards as a labour of love created for the recipient with special care and attention. But that's just me. Each to their own as my Mum used to say. Right that's me done posting for today.I am hoping to create some more later on this afternoon., but right nowI'm going to have my (very late) lunch because we have only just come back from the pool which was a huge success!!! I did LOTS of flexion exercises and walking back and forth across the pool many times. I was a bit concerned that if I managed to get in I wouldn't be able to get out again and they would have had to call the Fire Brigade to assist me. Now why didn't I just pretend not to be able to get out and have some gorgeous hunk of a Fireman rescue me??? Thanks for stopping by today and looking at my work.

Twas the Night Before Card

You may well have seen me use these stamps before. The last thing I did with them was a Star Book back in May/June. They are such lovely stamps and lend themselves to all kinds of techniques. Here I have used the 'paper piecing' technique which was really fun to do. This is a sample for my November class at Sister Act (best shop in the whole Wellington/Kapiti/Horowhenua area) It takes a little time and patience but then don't ALL good things take a little time and patience. I hope you like it. The next post will show you a completely different way to use the stamps. See you there.

A Voice from the Past!!!

Hi Everyone I am pleased to report that my recouperation is pregressing quite well and I have at last managed to produce a few things to Blog. It takes me soooooo long to get out all my stuff sometimes it's just too hard. The problem is that I can't get behind my desk at the moment what with crutches and a gammy leg, so I have had to move out onto the dining room table (which looks a bit like a war zone). I get out what I think I need, sit down to start work and then realise just how many things I have forgotten!! Of course every trip back to my desk has been a major expidition - but hey I'm getting there and at least in a few weeks I will be back to normal. It has really made me think about all those people who are like this on a permanent basis. Boy do we take our lives for granted!!! Anyway I have a couple of posts today - calm down now don't get too excited about that. The first is the card I made for our youngest daughter, Lara, whose birthday it was yesterday. She is a Blue Nose (Tatty) Teddy freak. I kid you not she must have at least 50 of them dotted around her bedroom. So that made my choice easy. I found this Tatty Teddy stamp in the UK and of course it was a 'Must Have Purchase' I also purchased 2 CDs with Tatty Teddy software on which my two youngest Grandchildren (8 and 10) have used with great success. Anyway to go along with the Blue Nose Teddy card we had found a Blue Nose Frog (yes she is a frog freak as well!!!) who is in the Friends of Blue Nose Bear collection and so that was an obvious choice for her gift. She loved them both I'm pleased to say. I will post the others this afternoon as we are just about to go to the pool. I am hoping to manage to get in (and out again) and do some exercises in the warm water. First time for that too and boy have I missed it. I'll let you know how I get on this afternoon. See you all then.
